PDP Candidates Back APC Rivals in FCT After Wike’s Meeting

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Assembly candidates in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have declared support for their All Progressives Congress (APC) counterparts following a stakeholders’ meeting convened by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Abuja.

The development emerged on Monday during a meeting of the Rainbow Coalition, which brought together political stakeholders from both parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to reports by The PUNCH and Tribune Online, the PDP candidates openly expressed support for APC candidates as part of a cross-party political arrangement aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Wike, who declared himself the coordinator of Tinubu’s re-election campaign in the FCT and Rivers State, said political differences should not prevent stakeholders from working together toward their shared presidential ambition.

The minister expressed confidence that the coalition would strengthen support for Tinubu across the FCT’s six area councils.

The development could reshape political alliances in the territory ahead of the 2027 elections, although the precise terms of the reported agreement and its implications for individual legislative contests remain unclear.
