Shehu Sani Slams Kemi Badenoch Over Comments About Her Children’s English Identity

Former Nigerian senator Shehu Sani has criticised UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch over reported comments about the English identity of her children.

Sani argued that people should not describe their ancestral homeland as evil while expecting the world to accept them without questions about their origins.

“You cannot call your ancestral homeland evil and expect the world to accept you,” the senator said.

His remarks have reignited discussions about identity, heritage and the relationship between immigrants and their countries of origin, particularly among Nigerians living in the diaspora.

The controversy centres on Badenoch’s reported comments that her children are not English, prompting reactions from Sani, who stressed the importance of acknowledging one’s ancestral roots.

The exchange has generated debate over whether people can fully embrace their adopted nationality while maintaining a connection to their country of origin.
