INEC Omits Ladi Adebutu, Deputy From Ogun 2027 Governorship List

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has omitted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, and his running mate, Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, from its published list of candidates for the February 6, 2027 governorship election.

The list, released on Saturday, October 10, contains 13 governorship candidates from different political parties, but neither Adebutu nor his deputy appears on the document. The commission has not publicly stated the specific reason for their omission.

The development raises questions about the PDP’s participation in the Ogun governorship contest, particularly as other parties have their candidates listed.

However, the Ogun PDP has reportedly rejected claims surrounding Adebutu’s eligibility, insisting that he is a duly registered party member and that the party complied with the relevant requirements.

Adebutu’s camp has also disputed reports describing the published document as the final list, claiming that the official final list is expected on November 3, 2026. This claim has not been independently confirmed by INEC in the reports reviewed.

The situation remains developing, and further clarification from INEC or the PDP could determine the next steps for the party’s governorship ticket.
